The purpose of this book is to provide a simple approach to understanding STRENGTH
for the average person who is interested in strength training from the viewpoint of
preventive medicine. The book is divided into the concepts of strength training, strength
equipment and strength facilities.
The general image usually portrayed by individuals who train with weights is the
"Pumping Iron" image. This concept has produced a number of misconceptions about
strength training. Research has indicated that people who want to get started on a
strength program lack the knowledge of where to obtain the necessary information to
start such a program. The goal of this book is to provide information on how to develop
an individual strength program for preventive medicine.
